*** 5th Anniversary Edition of the fabulous COCOA WOMEN’S HALF Marathon, WILD WOMAN 5k / 10k ~ Sunday, January 15th, 2017 ***

From the folks the folks at purpose. Race Events that bring you The Alamo 13.1, SPA GIRL TRI and ILLUMINATIONS HALF we’re honored to offer this festive, special event that celebrates women.  This ladies only Cocoa Women’s Half Marathon & Relay is all about the ladies and the chocolate along with a gorgeous, quaint urban San Antonio course that culminates with an amazing post race celebration.  Not up for the 1/2 or Relay, then indulge in our WILD WOMAN 5k and show what you’re passionate about or zip through our Girls 1-Mile Fun Run.

After your run, we’ll have hot, fresh pancakes straight off the griddle from the world famous Magnolia Pancake Haus and yummy Taco Haven tacos along with fresh fruit and plenty of chocolate.

We pride ourselves on some of the best Finisher Medals around so run fast to get yours. Our ladies cut cool tech shirts are a real treat, custom racing bibs, professional chip timing and stylish feminine swag bags are all a real treat.

The Course

Our delicious & amazingly scenic course includes quaint and charming spots like La Villita, San Fernando Cathedral, Main Plaza, HemisFair Park, quaint King William, historic Mission Concepcion and the nice wide open spaces of the Mission Reach of the River Walk; all with a sweet chocolate theme.

WILD WOMAN 5K race starts at the same time and covers the same route as 1/2 but splits off at ArsenalBridge AFTER King William Park & back up the EAST bank of the very scenic River Walk to a sweet chocolatey finish in La half-cocoaMap-2016Villita. Click on the map to the left to check it out!

WILD WOMAN 10k race starts with 1/2 & 5k and stays with Cocoa 1/2 runners until Mile 4 Aid Station & route is HERE:

For those doing the Relay, the course will be divided in exact 6.55 mile legs.

There will be both water and Gatorade at Aid Stations about EVERY 1.5 Mile for you wherever you see the red cross on the course map.

Course time limits:

  • You have plenty of time to complete the half marathon with a 4 hour time limit.
  • For the WILD WOMAN 5k & 10k, we’re giving you a 1 1/2 hour time limit.

PORT-O-POTTY SPOTS!!  Lots of pre-race restrooms throughout La Villita.  On course potties at King William Park Aid Station (Mile 2), Eagleland River Walk Aid Station (Mile 4 & 11.3), Restrooms at Mission Concepcion Portal Park (Mile 6 & 9), Relay Point (6.55), & Mission Rd. Gazebo (Mile 7).

Packet Pick-Up and Expo for 2017 will be from 12-5 Saturday, January 14th, 2017, in Maverick Plaza inside of the LA VILLITA Historic Arts Village (corner of S. Alamo & Nueva, just 2 blocks south of The Alamo:  http://lavillita.com/

Getting There/ Hotels

If you’re driving to the event, please allow enough time to park and arrive at the race site. There are several City parking garages near La Villita & surface lots for our participants and spectators.  Most surface lots south & west of La Villita tend to be more economical.
